About Us
We're building culturally competent mental health support for patients experiencing medical stressors. Pre-seed healthcare startup using AI-assisted development to rapidly build a B2B/C SaaS platform.
Mission: Help patients navigate the emotional journey of medical diagnoses and treatment with personalized, culturally-sensitive resources.
Position Overview
Start Date: ~November 15, 2025 | Type: Contract | Hours: 20 hours/Wk (1-8) → 10 hours/Wk (9-12) | Compensation: Monthly (based on experience) | Comp Platform: Upwork only | Reports To: Founder/CEO & CTO
What Makes This Different
You'll work alongside our non-technical founder and CTO using Claude Code to rapidly build a healthcare SaaS app. This is vibe coding: AI generates code, you provide expertise and strategic direction.
Timeline:
- Weeks 1-8: Full-stack development (20 hrs/week)
- Weeks 9-12: Support & refinement (10-15 hrs/week)
Your Role:
- 90% Building with Claude Code (frontend to backend)
- 10% Architecture & code quality decisions
- 20% Teaching founder technical concepts
The Process:
- AI generates most code via Claude Code
- Daily code reviews & security audits
- Deploy: 100+ views in 3 months
- Iterate in sprint with thousands of snapshots
Required Experience
1. Claude Code or AI Coding Tools (NON-NEGOTIABLE)
Strongly Preferred: Claude Code (Workspaces) | Acceptable: Cursor, GitHub Copilot, similar AI assistants
You must have:
- Hands-on experience using AI to generate production code
- Comfort with prompt engineering for code generation
- An understanding of when to override AI suggestions
Not a good fit: You think AI tools are inferior to prefer manual coding
2. SaaS Development (REQUIRED)
You've built 1-2 SaaS products shipped to production. You understand:
- Multi-tenant architecture (auth, data isolation)
- Subscription/user management systems
- Cloud deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- API-first design & integration
- Database design for scale (SQL/NoSQL)
- CI/CD pipelines
3. Full-Stack Technical Skills (REQUIRED)
- Frontend: React, Next.js, Vue (React preferred)
- Backend: Node.js, Python, or similar
- Database: PostgreSQL, MongoDB + healthcare data considerations (encryption, audit logs, HIPAA awareness)
- Deployment: AWS, S3, RDS, Lambda
- Security: OWASP, data protection, secure auth
- DevOps: Strong version control practices
What You'll Build (12 Weeks)
Phase 1: Foundation & B2B Platform (Weeks 1-2)
- AWS infrastructure & CI/CD
- Healthcare compliance (database encryption, audit logs)
- Multi-tenant architecture
- User authentication (signup, login, password reset)
- B2B client & patient management
Phase 2: Patient-Facing Features (Weeks 3-6)
- Disease identification & intake flow
- Cultural competency content delivery
- Personalized resource recommendations
- User dashboard & analytics
- B2B client dashboard
Phase 3: Polish & Launch Prep (Weeks 7-12)
- Bug fixes from testing
- Performance optimization
- Security hardening
- Scale features
- Ready for pilot client onboarding
Compensation & Terms
Rate: Monthly based on experience | Total: Over 3 months | Payment: Via Upwork only, bi-monthly or monthly in arrears
Contract:
- 90-day independent contractor
- 2-week notice period either side
- IP owned by company, NDA required
- Extension option at 90 days

- Morning standup (~15 min, mostly async)
